چکیده

We report an optical photometric survey of 0.89 deg of the Orion OB1b association centered on Ori. This region includes most of the Ori cluster, the highest-density region within Orion OB1b. We have developed a statistical procedure to identify the young, low-mass, pre–main-sequence population of the association. We estimate that the cluster has 160 members in the mass range (0:2 M 1:0 M ). The cluster has a radius of 3–5 pc and an estimated age of 2:5 0:3 Myr. We estimate that the total mass of the cluster is 225 30 M . This mass is similar to the estimated mass of the 5 ;10 yr old cluster NGC 2024. NGC 2024 and Ori appear to be a well-matched pair of clusters, except for the 2 Myr difference in their ages.

Young stars and brown dwarfs surrounding

Aims. We look for new regions for the search of substellar objects. Methods. Two circular areas, 45 arcmin-radius each, centred on the young massive star systems Alnilam and Mintaka in the Orion Belt, have been explored. The regions are very young (less than 10 Ma), have low extinction, and are neighbours to σ Orionis (∼3 Ma), a young open cluster very rich in brown dwarfs and planetary-mass ob...

71 0 v 1 2 4 Ja n 20 07 25 Orionis : A kinematically distinct 10 Myr old group in Orion OB 1 a 1

We report here on the photometric and kinematic properties of a well defined group of nearly 200 low-mass pre-main sequence stars, concentrated within ∼ 1 of the early-B star 25 Ori, in the Orion OB1a sub-association. We refer to this stellar aggregate as the 25 Orionis group. The group also harbors the Herbig Ae/Be star V346 Ori and a dozen other early type stars with photometry, parallaxes, a...

A large - scale optical - near infrared survey for brown dwarfs and very low - mass stars in the Orion OB 1 association Juan

We report the initial results of a large-scale optical-near infrared survey to extend the known young population of the entire Orion star-forming region down to the substellar domain. Using deep optical I-band photometry and data from the 2MASS survey, we selected candidates across ∼ 14.8 deg in the ∼ 8 Myr old Ori OB1a subassociation and over ∼ 6.7 deg in the Ori OB1b subassociation (age ∼ 3 M...

Cluster, and Distant Ob Associations

The Virtual Observatory is useful. I summarise some of my works where I extensively use the Aladin sky atlas. Topics cover from the search and common proper motion confirmation of very low-mass stars and brown dwarfs in wide (ρ > 1000 AU) binaries and multiple systems, to the identification and characterisation of stellar and substellar populations in young open clusters and OB associations at ...

Low-Mass Stars and Brown Dwarfs Around σ Orionis

We present optical spectroscopy of 71 photometric candidate low-mass members of the cluster associated with σ Orionis. Thirty-five of these are found to pass the lithium test and hence are confirmed as true cluster members, covering a mass range of ≤ 0.055-0.3M⊙, assuming a mean cluster age of ≤ 5Myr. We find evidence for an age spread on the (I, I−J) colour magnitude diagram, members appearing...
